Enhanced 0.19 U-valve confirmed by ‘Hot Box’ test on superquilt multi layer foil insulation

Agrément Certificates (08-275 / 276) confirm that the use of two layers of SuperQuilt will more than meet the requirements of Building Regulations Parts L & J.

Commenting on the findings of the Agrément Certification Body, YBS Insulation Managing Director, Chris Woodhall said, "These U-Values are calculated from the resistance figures achieved and verified within the Agrément Certification using the currently required EN 12667 Standard Test Method for thermal performance.

This latest endorsement makes SuperQuilt the most certificated multi layer insulation product available in the market place. According to the requirements outlined in the current LABC guidance notes, Building Control Officers will now be able to accept SuperQuilt with confidence using the information contained in these recently awarded Agrément Certificates.The introduction of a unique method of stitching reduces cold bridging commonly seen with this type of insulation material. We are the only manufacturer of multi foil insulation to incorporate real aluminium foil (rather a than a metallised film on polymer or non woven fabric) into our product.

All this produces a performance that is at least 32% better than that of the nearest competing Agrément Certified multi foil insulation currently available.

This revolutionary development (Patent Pending) has been achieved without any increase in overall weight or bulk in transit and confirms the company's position as a leader and innovator in the field of multi foil technology. Even more gratifying has been our ability to introduce such advanced performance in a 'hot box' testing environment without any increase in the price of the finished product.

Designed for use over roof rafters in new build applications and under rafter in refurbishment / upgrading situations, SuperQuilt offers a comprehensive three-in-one Air Leakage, Vapour Barrier and Thermal Insulant in one lightweight, easy-to-fit, non allergenic and non irritant package.We have provided Agrément Certification for our SuperQuilt insulation to satisfy the requirements of industry user who prefers to rely on this type of testing. SuperQuilt still carries certification by the CIM for as installed performance, LABC System Type Approval and many other industry standard certificates covering fire and vapour transmission.

YBS Insulation and members of the CMM are continuing the CEN process to prove a new dynamic testing method and ultimately achieve our goal for a new European Standard for insulation products.

Dynamic In-Situ Testing 
We see the result of the like for like standard 'hot box' testing procedure as an interim endorsement of the efficiency of our SuperQuilt multi foil product until such time as the new dynamic testing standard becomes available. We maintain that 'Dynamic In-Situ Testing' is the way forward and the multi-foil industry's efforts with CEN through 'Round Robin' testing will provide unbiased and accurate information derived from a widely different series of locations and climates throughout Europe which can be safely incorporated into a new standard of testing for all to use as a yardstick for future insulation performance.
